Tomas contemplating where he would like to travel next

After his adventures in Greece and Turkey, Tomas made the long flight back to the United States, where he visited a 7th and 8th grade class at Gray Avenue School in Yuba City, California.  They loved meeting Tomas and are now working on their own project "Rusty takes flight" where they are sending Red Tailed Hawk drawings around the world as well!  Thank you for taking such good care of Tomas!

While visiting their class, Tomas was lucky enough to meet a Western Screech-owl named Otus.

Tomas even got to go on a class field trip to a place that takes care of injured animals near Chico, California
While on the field trip, he met a giant tortoise!

And a crazy lizard!

From Istanbul, Turkey, Tomas travelled to the beautiful Greek Islands

Observing the beautiful architecture of the town of Oia, in Santorini, Greece

Tomas enjoyed a famous Oia sunset

Istanbul, Turkey

Tomas flew from Sacramento, California to Istanbul, Turkey, where he was able to spend a few days exploring many historic sights in the city.
His first stop was the Topkapi Palace, which was built in the 1400's and the primary residence for the Ottoman Sultans in the city.
Tomas paused in the entryway of the Topkapi palace

He finally made it inside!

Next, Tomas visited the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque, which was built around 1609.
Tomas admired the inside of the Blue Mosque, which is lined with more than 20,000 homemade ceramic tiles.

Sacramento, California, USA

Tomas began his journey with Heidi(our fourth grade teacher) and her family  Northern California.  He visited Sacramento, the capital of California where he had some adventures on the golf course!  He fell out of the golf cart and almost got lost in the green grass.  Luckily he was found and enjoyed the rest of his day.
